ROME: We were in Rome for only a day but found a fabulous, small hotel very close to the Coliseum and Trajan’s Column. It’s the three star Nerva. The best family room is No 1 where you get two rooms, two bathrooms and a lovely quiet terrace with an awning. We stayed there during high season so it was more expensive than our usual choice but not relative to what else there is in Rome. The breakfast is extra, which is always a bit annoying, but still a good find.
